We've madly been preparing over here at 'Love & Dead Things'! This year we have a lot in store for our little biz. We recently purchased our first pop-up canopy to do outdoor shows and not get pummeled by the rain (yay!).
And more importantly, we also very recently acquired an old screen-printing business from a long time work fellow of Sam's that made extremely innovative changes in the water-based industry many years ago. So I can't even described exactly how stoked we are! We have a lot of old equipment to sort out and learn how to use and sift through. Amongst all that is a 4-station, 6-color steel piece of crazy monstrocity of a printing press. Currently we have 1-station, 4-color press made of wood and it fits snugly against the desk I am typing from right now.
As of right now, we really only print in one color. But that will be changing in the future for sure. I really want to start printing vivid florals on dark garments. They pop so much more and last so much longer than direct-to-garment, which you see everywhere now for color on shirts. But dividing the colors and screen printing them instead really makes them just that much more luxurious, long-lasting and simply, badass.
I am currently applying to some local craft, event, venues and shows like crazy. I hope we can land a few to entrench ourselves within the community. Our idea was to do that last year but we just didn't have the focus and ability to do it. And it's a whole new ballgame now. So local Bellingham folks, you'll be seeing us out there! I know that some of you already see us wearing our shirts just going to the grocery store! It's been pretty awesome to have people comment so much on your creations. It doesn't really happen wearing anything else in my wardrobe.
I'll stop into here later towards the beginning of next month and post pics of our new (to us) equipment. Lata!
